Proper watering of trees and shrubs is one of the most important cultural practices for most homeowners. Poor watering practices can cause plants to be less vigorous and more susceptible to insect and disease damage. Though drought is a common problem for trees and shrubs, over watering can also cause severe damage to woody plants.

Drought Induced Dormancy

Examples of drought induced heat stress and lawn going into summer dormancy resulting from insufficient water or too long of time period in between lawn watering. If your lawn has areas that look similar to the photos above, it is the result of not enough water or allowing lawn to become too dry between waterings.
